To Help The Fallen

If we see that someone has fallen in the mud, we can look the other way and stay clean or we can offer a hand and get muddy. Which choice shows the least soiled soul?

work in progress
It's really a shame i can't keep this space updated with my last experiments in type for music notation.
Right now I'm trying to find a parametric solution for the noteheads. Hope to keep this space alive with my results as soon as possible.
But there's so much to do still... I wish i could get done my script in a better and faster way.

New to Typophophile
I am new to Typophile, I want to grow as an Art Director/Designer through observation and eventually participation on this site, thank you in advance to all my teachers. I have been a designer for many years… started out as an industrial designer and evolved to where I am now. I am looking to grow as a designer and improve my critical skills and also increase my circle of creative people.

LOVE snow graffiti

Did some snow bank graffiti this afternoon, gawd my cursive lettering needs work!
And no, I didn't drink 10 gallons of blueberry juice to get this done ;) I used a syringe dispenser and natural food dye coloring (which I've used many times before and is completely safe and eatable). The lettering is about eight feet wide and two feet high.
Looking forward to do some more ... :)

Justifying Going to Typo
With Typo happening a scant one hour away from me, I'm having a hard time not being tempted to attend. But really, why would a guitar designer that dabbles in letters need to go?

Cryptic Monogram Inlay
Desgined some custom inlays for the front of this guitar that were to represent "DD" without actually being two Ds. The result is a little like a sine wave, a bow, infinity, part of a treble clef, or lots of other stuff you can dream up. It even looks like two Ds if you know that's what you're looking for:

When we were almost finished with the guitar, I was looking at my sketchbook from working the fingerboard inlays out and one design stood out that had the customer's initials of "DDM" all folded up and cryptic. I was really excited when the customer loved it and said we could inlay it on the back of the peghead:

The wood is a dark Quilted Maple and the inlays are all in golden mother of pearl, all handcut.

New
I'm new to the whole "Design" world...I was big into art during high school but earning a business degree and earning to live in NYC takes out a lot of time. I've recently picked up some Adobe products and began learning about Web development/design; now I'm trying to branch out of the technicality of building websites and reinstate my creative mind. I'm looking to learn the ins/outs of typography and coloring to play around with for some basic websites.
Unfortunately my work computer doesn't allow me to view the Typography 101 in resources, but that just means I'll have something to look forward when I get home.
Hello Typophile.
Early Adobe fonts in the original packages
Some typophiles may be interested in having a circa 1987 Adobe font for Mac, in the original packaging. I have nearly the entire original collection, but I only need a few for my early desktop graphics collection, and I ended up purchasing a large collection. I doubt that they'll attract much attention on Ebay, so I thought that I'd give you a heads-up.

Peace Symbol Puzzle
Peace Symbol Puzzle droppin' this Spring:

...old skool sliding puzzle.
Within the packaging will be a letter press card talking about world peace, the peace symbol, and a nob to my friend Luc Devroye (inglorious basterd that he is!) who came out with a font called Wahei (awesome peace symbol dingbat font), which I used here and once before in my World Peace graphic.
It is my intention to have every peace org carry this puzzle, I'm going to approach every single one of them and see what's what.
Thought I'd share.

The Daily Heller/Tree of Type
Today's Daily Heller, from the one and only Steven Heller, has a brilliant Type Tree from Bauer created in 1937 on the occasion of the foundry's 100th anniversary. He's reproduced the extensive text illustrating the tree's myriad classifications and mentions that it's probably not entirely accurate. I'd love to see this community weigh in on Bauer's accuracy in explaining their tree.
